DGPC participates in fifth round of zhabtog at Gelephu Mindfulness City
As the nation marked the 46th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King on February 21, 2026, more than 100 employees from DGPC joined thousands of volunteers in the fifth round of Zhabtog at Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC). The nationwide initiative was graced by His Majesty the King, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Holiness the Je Khenpo and Members of the Royal Family, drawing participation from across the country.

Led by Dasho Chhewang Rinzin, Managing Director, along with Directors and other senior officials, DGPC employees from the Corporate Office, hydropower plants and other formations participated alongside more than 16,000 volunteers – far exceeding the registered number. The strong turnout reflected unity and shared responsibility in support of His Majesty’s vision for Gelephu as a model of mindful and sustainable development.
The fifth round, which concluded with Tokha from His Majesty, marked a strategic shift from general clearing works to targeted ecological interventions aligned with the GMC Master Plan. Activities focused on enriching elephant habitats in Zombabi village under Chuzergang Gewog through removal of invasive plant species, protection of natural fodder, improvement of waterholes and salt lick areas, and planting of fodder species. DGPC employees actively contributed to these efforts.
DGPC’s participation reaffirms the Corporation’s commitment to national service beyond its mandate of generating clean and reliable energy, standing in solidarity with His Majesty’s vision for sustainable development and environmental stewardship
