JWPTI trainees undertake rooftop solar field training with DGPC

DGPC has kicked off a month-long hands-on field attachment in March 2026 for 16 JWPTI Solar trainees under the Distributed Solar for Public Infrastructure Project (DSPIP), turning classrooms into rooftops and theory into real megawatts.

After an intensive 2-day training on PV technology, project lifecycle, and OHS, the trainees are now on site in Thimphu, working shoulder-to-shoulder with industry professionals to install and commission rooftop solar systems across public infrastructure.

The programme was delivered with support from ADB Technical Assistance, coordinated by DGPC with a consulting team led by KPMG and TERI, alongside APECS Bhutan, bringing global expertise to local talent.

DSPIP will deploy 35 MWp of solar by 2027, with Subproject 1 already rolling out 7.83 MWp across 204 public buildings, including Basochhu and Chhukha hydropower plants blending Bhutan’s hydropower strength with a solar future.

This initiative is not just about clean energy, it’s about green jobs, national capacity, and the next generation of Bhutanese solar professionals.

DGPC is proud to build infrastructure and people at the same time.
